Analyzing mouse and rat genomes in order to study the functions of genes

Laboratory animal science is a multi-field science that studies animals used in research and education. Such animals include almost all mammals, such as rabbits, dogs, cats, pigs and monkeys, as well as mice, rats and other rodents. We study the anatomy, physiology, genetics, breeding, theriogenology and epidemiology of these animals. In short, laboratory animal science is itself a miniature-size veterinary medicine. Out of these wide ranging areas of study, the laboratory animal science laboratory focuses on the analysis of mouse and rat genomes as its major research theme.
