Welcome!

Similar to we humans, pets live longer than a decade ago. This trend has been causing the increase of the animals suffering from aging-associated diseases, especially cancer (malignant tumor). The current main cancer treatments consist of surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy (radiotherapy). Radiation therapy, often abbreviated RT, RTx, or XRT, is therapy using ionizing radiation to control or kill cancer cells. Radiation therapy offers clear benefits to patients. It allows organ preservation, preserves quality of life, reduces pain, and improves survival. However, it also has disadvantages such as damage to surrounding normal tissues and poor effectiveness to highly resistant tumors. In order to contribute to the development of more effective and efficient cancer radiotherapy, we study the relationship between cancer and radiation employing techniques of molecular and cell biology, biochemistry, and animal experiments.
